A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district has been arrested along with her lover and another accomplice for orchestrating a robbery at her in-laws’ home, stealing cash and jewellery worth Rs 16.5 lakh. The woman, identified as Ananmika alias Neha, faked being a victim in the incident, claiming she and her children were made unconscious by robbers posing as LIC agents.
According to the police, the robbery took place on June 7 when Ananmika conspired with her lover, Nigam, to loot the house. The duo created a false narrative by reporting that unknown men had entered the home, drugged them, and looted valuables. Initially, she claimed that she had no role in the crime.
However, during investigation, inconsistencies in her account and technical surveillance exposed the truth. Jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered from the accused. Hapur police arrested all three individuals involved in the plot.
The accused reportedly planned the robbery in advance and tried to throw police off track by feeding them false information. Their plan fell apart when evidence revealed Ananmika's direct involvement, leading to her arrest along with her co-conspirators.
